Top 5 Reasons Realtors Use or Don’t Use Social Media

In their recent, Technology Survey September 2018, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) polled its members on their use of social media for their real estate businesses. A whopping 77% of members reported using social media, with only 22% who do not. Here is what the report found as the top uses for social media in real estate businesses (of the 77% who use it) and the top reasons realtors choose not to use social media (of the 22% who don’t).

Main Reasons for Using Social Media

  • To promote listings: 26%
  • For help building/maintaining relationships with existing clients: 25%
  • Because maintaining a social media presence is expected in the industry: 21%
  • To find new prospects: 13%
  • Because they generally enjoy it: 5%

 

Main Reasons for Not Using Social Media

  • Not interested: 23%
  • Don’t trust it: 20%
  • Don’t see an ROI: 19%
  • Don’t know how to use it: 17%
  • Don’t have time: 14%

Other reasons realtors listed using social media is to help network with fellow real estate pros, because they see a good return on investment from use, and to help stay current on real estate news and business trends.
