Recently, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) surveyed national home buyers purchasing their primary residence in 2018, and published their annual Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers.  We compared this year’s highlights to the 2017 report:

Age:

2017- 45 years old

2018- 46 years old

Median Household Income:

2017- $88,800

2018- $91,600

Percent of First-Time Home Buyers

2017- 34%

2018- 33%

Percent of Married Couples

2017- 65%

2018- 63%

Percent of Single Females

2017- 18%

2018- 18%

Percent of Single Males

2017- 7%

2018- 9%

In just one year, home buyers are getting slightly older and richer, and the percentage of first-time home buyers has decreased. Does any of this surprise you? What do you think is in store for 2019? Check out all the highlights of the 2018 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, and see the “Rental Market Research” section of our blog for more market research.
