Use Houzz to Find Qualified Home Professionals

Whether you are looking to hire a general contractor, an electrician, a plumber, or even a maid for your investment property, finding options and collecting references is a lot of work. Houzz is an online platform for home design and remodeling that does the research of professionals in your area for you.

Completely free with an online account, Houzz has dozens of categories of professionals in your area under four main branches: Design & Remodeling, Home Improvement, Home Services, and Cleaning Services.  They think of everything from a handyman and painter to a chimney cleaner and tree service. Under each sub-category, Houzz has pages of professionals with real customer reviews. For instance, in Austin, Texas, under the sub-category “Air Conditioning and Heating Companies,” Houzz has over 50 pages of professionals totaling up to over 2,000 listings.

Most listings include portfolios, contact information, a website, and reviews. Additionally, active vendors on Houzz will answer customer questions directly on the platform, and you can see all other customer questions. Have a specific project in mind? Type exactly what you need into a questionnaire and Houzz will find you results based on your exact needs.

We suggest using Houzz in addition to your other research and not solely relying on it for vendor information. It can be an extremely useful tool on getting you started with solid professionals, but we always recommend due diligence for any home project.
